Education:

  1. February 2008 Italian laurea cum laude in Experimental Psychology, University of Florence (Italy), Faculty of Psychology.
  2. February 2006 Degree in General and Experimental psychology, University of Florence (Italy), Faculty of Psychology;

Biography:

I have completed my five years degree in Experimental Psychology (MSc equivalent of Italy) at University of Florence, defending my thesis in February 2008. The research project of my thesis, still supervised by Prof. Stefano Baldassi, focuses onto the influence of reward in modulating low-level visual perception (i.e. sensory thresholds for discrimination of simple features) when attention is engaged in a concurrent, highly demanding task.

I started my PhD on December 2008 under the supervision of Guillaume Masson PhD and Pascal Mamassian PhD at the Institut de Neurosciences Cognitives de la Mediterranee in Marseille. Here I work in three different project:

- Motion and Speed perception in human

- Fixation eye movements (microsaccadi and saccadi) in human and monkey

I am interested in how the brain encodes and decodes visual information, and in the mechanisms that put that information to use in the control of behavior. I'm used different kind of technics to do this: Psychophysics, Ocular movements recording in human & monkey and modelling.

Current research and interests

- Motion and speed perception

- Decision making and perceptual decision in human and monkey

- Ocular movements (microsaccadic and saccadic movements) in human and monkey

- Neurophysiology of the visual system.

- Computational model
