I started my PhD with Prof. Gustavo Deco in October 2009. My research focuses on brain processes involved in decision confidence computation and on the role of confidence estimate in decision making. I uses biophysically plausible large scale computational modelling driven by experimental (psychophysical, neurophysiological, neuroimaging) data in order to understand how confidence arises form brain activity and how confidence signals can be used by the brain to coordinate efficient decisions in a complex and dynamic environment.

I presented the first results of my research at Pan-Iberian Systems Neuroscience Meeting 2009 in Lisboa (Portugal).

Extended results were published in Journal of Neurophysiology: Insabato A, Pannunzi M, Rolls E T, Deco G. Confidence related decision making. J Neurophysiol 104: 539 – 547, 2010.
